“The development of language is part of the development of the personality, for words are the natural means of expressing thoughts and establishing understanding between people.”                      -Maria Montessori

Children enrich their vocabulary in the classroom by listening to books, retelling the story, naming objects, and having rich conversations with their caregivers and peers. They have ample opportunity to practice language skills within the Toddler classroom. We encourage them to talk with one another and us and listen to what they have to say. Storytime is always an excellent time to build their vocabulary, imagination, and their ability to focus.
