It was wonderful meeting with everyone during conferences this past week! We genuinely enjoy collaborating on how we can best serve our students.
November is shaping up to be an exciting month for our Middle classroom. National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO) began this week, and nearly all of the students have chosen to set a word count goal for themselves while writing an honest-to-goodness novel. The goal is to spend this creative time writing down every idea they can come up with as they continue their stories. Students’ goals are to hit their word count goals and encourage their creative writing more so than having correct grammar. During the National Novel FINISHING month in December, we will spend time correcting any grammar mistakes and edit their novels.
Now that the weather has cooled off, we have moved some of our studies outside. We have also invited the Upper Elementary students to join us for occasional activities and programs as well. This week we also did an exercise that simulated the way trade and routes of exchange contributed to the spread of diseases like the Black Death. The first Math Olympiad took place this week as well and we are excited to test our mettle.
