We began our week with a spooky sensory bowl, where students used a slotted spoon to sift through rice for different objects. Our classroom also carved a Jack-O-Lantern, where students voted on the different shapes for the eyes, mouth, and nose. We introduced two metal insets on our writing shelf to create new shapes and strengthen our fine motor skills. In math, students explored our new “Greedy Duck” unit. This unit introduces comparing numbers by using greater than, less than, and equal to values. In sensorial work, we added the binomial cube, allowing students to explore the foundations of algebraic squaring. Finally, we added the orange stepper to our movement shelf this week. This will enable students to choose another way to move while using our yoga mat in the classroom.
