“The land is where our roots are. The children must be taught to feel and live in harmony with the Earth.”
-Dr. Maria Montessori
We have adjusted and are working in peace with our new cohorted communities. There is a constant “work hum” throughout the classroom and the children are thriving. As teachers, this puts a smile on our faces.
We have introduced the third vertebrate to our Zoology shelf. The students are now exploring the reptile. For Geography, we discussed the cardinal directions and are practicing mapping skills. This is always a favorite unit. Students feel like explorers and get to use tools like a compass and paper maps;)
We have had overall success integrating technology in our work week. We have spent time using the browser to access their personal email accounts. They have received an email from their teachers and have practiced replying to that email. They have also continued typing.com for correct keyboarding and have spent some time catching up on unfinished SeeSaw activities. We spend about 30 minutes, twice a week doing these activities.
The weather is changing and with this the children will require winter gear for recess time. Please help them remember to dress for the temperature. We will go outside in a light drizzle and snow. It is also a good idea to label EVERY ARTICLE with your child’s name.
Have a great weekend.
