In preparation for gathering around tables and celebration with our families, next week we introduced setting places at the table. Students practiced placemat setting, sorting silverware, cloth napkin rolling, using a baster and slicing wooden fruits and vegetables in Practical Life. As you take part in your own Thanksgiving traditions, we encourage you to ask your child to help with similar preparations. Students also used real turkey feathers to create a centerpiece and filled a cornucopia with fruits and vegetables. In art students created a cornucopia collage using tissue paper, and traced a turkey. In movement, we continue to strengthen our whole body by balancing on the balancing board. We also demonstrated another metal inset extension to trace two shapes at a time. We ended this week by using bead bars to represent and celebrate Miss Brenda’s half a century birthday, and reflecting on what we are thankful for.
