The end of the school year is quickly approaching! With only a couple of weeks left, teachers are presenting lessons less, and students are working more on finalizing projects along with reviewing works in language, math, and culture. The second-year students are wrapping up their State Research projects, and the third-year students are busy working on their Imaginary Island projects. At the end of the year, students always look forward to presenting these projects to their peers. In addition, students have been exploring a new writing unit. Each week students have been presented with different poetry lessons. Within this poetry unit, students have learned to write acrostic, diamante, haiku, and color poems.
This week students were also able to attend a special author visit from Jerry Pallotta. Author, Jerry Pallotta, is famously known for his “Who Would Win?” book series. This series entails many books that have two animals going up against each other in the wild. This year students were able to read a few of Mr. Pallotta’s books from this series, including Polar Bear vs. Grizzly Bear, Komodo Dragon vs. King Cobra, and Tarantula vs. Scorpion. These books were a part of the 1BookBG school program. Students enjoyed reading the enticing books and hypothesizing which animal would win in each given conflict.
