It’s hard to believe next week is spring break! Students will be off school from April 1-8 (Monday- Monday). Monday, April 8th, is the solar eclipse! Students received a lesson, books, and eclipse glasses this week to prepare for the phenomenon.
This week, we pretended to be Paleoartists and reconstructed early hominids from skull pictures. It’s been a lot of fun seeing the creativity. We continue to work on informative essays in writing and fractions, negative integers, and percentages in math. The 4th and 5th years are earning their microscope licenses in biology. Each student has taken a one-on-one exam and earned a printed-out license. The 6th years are wrapping up the cardiovascular system and learning all about blood cells. Students are still working on Mystery Literature Circle books and have an assignment due April 9th (the day we return from Spring Break). Please help your child remember to read over break.
The 6th-year students are also planning their annual end-of-year field trip! The sixth graders plan, raise money, and go on a field trip. This year’s class has decided to go on an overnight trip to Put In Bay. They have tentatively set the date for May 23-24th!
On April 11th, BGSU environmental studies students will host environmental studies activities for Upper. They have been working hard on lessons, and I’m excited about all the creativity and hands-on work they plan to present!
