We transitioned back to the classroom on Monday with a history lesson on Homo habilis. Mr. Dave started showing us a movie, and about a minute into the video he snuck out to the closet and returned as “Harry the Habiline.” He presented in the 1st person before taking questions from the students. It was a lot of fun!
This week we started a unit on fantasy writing. To begin, we discussed how fantasy stories are rooted in normal, everyday events. We formed partners and came up with ordinary events, then turned them into extraordinary, fantastical events. Now we have many seed ideas for the fantasy stories we will write later.
We’ve also started a new unit on ecology and biomes. And in geography, each student will choose one area of the world to study for the next ten weeks. We’re sure to have some experts by April!
