This week we celebrated the Chinese New Year. We learned about the Year 2023 being the year of the rabbit, what animal our own birth year represented, colored the flag of China, and traced Chinese numbers. The students were also very excited to showcase their dragon masks and tails as they paraded around the school! In music, they have been enjoying learning about ribbon dancing as a way to celebrate Chinese culture and traditions as well. Our new science unit was all about animal tracks. Students identified and matched different animals to their tracks. The mathematical concept of odd and even was introduced. On the writing shelf, we added metal insets to the inset frame to trace and focus on creative writing booklets where students had the opportunity to draw a picture and phonetically spell the word to go along with it. The small hexagon box was added to the sensorial shelf, adding more geometric shapes and each language. We continue moving our bodies and increasing our gross motor skills as we use the aerobic step. In the peace corner, we showed the image captor, a calming, sensory activity for our hands. We also used our sense of taste to eat and describe different types of bread!
