This week in math, the concept of odd and even numerals was introduced as well as the dynamic layout. The dynamic layout shows the child that “everything changes after 9” in each place value. Yoga cards were added to the movement shelf where children can explore different yoga poses. The large hexagon box was added to the sensorial shelf introducing the vocabulary for shapes including parallelogram and hexagon. Students used their gustatory senses to taste different kinds of bread like cinnamon and pumpernickel. Students also received a lesson on making a creative writing booklet to draw a picture and phonetically sound out to write the associated word. The blue insets were added to our metal insets, allowing the child to trace the shape in a more complex way that involves more motor control from the hand. Our new science unit was all about magnets! One of the class favorites as we discover the concept of magnetic and non-magnetic! Thank you to all our families who joined us this week for curriculum night! The students are so proud of all their work and accomplishments!
