This week brought us a new Science unit! Students began to study Animal Tracks and the science behind different tracks, patterns and habits. In Math, students began studying the cubing chains. This activity teaches the child skip counting which is preparation for multiplication. It also indirectly prepares the child to understand cubing numbers. It is a very big work and requires a lot of concentration and fine motor skills. A gustatory experience this week was taste testing different types of bread! Students sampled rye and cinnamon-raisin bread, discussed their similarities and differences and took a vote on which flavor they preferred. Also added to practical life was using a baster and writing on a mirror. In Art, we continued to fine tune our hand muscles and concentration as students explored cutting a spiral and painting snowflakes at the easel. Lastly, our kindergartners began our creative writing curriculum this week! These lessons aim to teach the student a way to communicate through writing, promote self-expression and find their voice as a writer!
Thank you to all of the families who were able to join us for Curriculum Night! We enjoyed sharing our classroom with all of you, and we know how important it is for the children to proudly demonstrate their work to their family.
