In math, students are working on fractions. They are working on everything from the subtraction of unlike denominators to the multiplication of decimals. In spelling, students are working on homophones. In writing, students are working on research. In history, students have been working on flag symbolism. In science, we are conducting weather experiments. We have done everything from building a barometer to creating a cloud in a bottle. Last Friday, we talked about stabilizing molecules and crystalization. Then we made crystals!
Students also learned about the life and work of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Students completed a biography timeline, discussed photographs of the March on Washington, and analyzed King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
We will go on a field trip on January 31st to the Bowling Green public library. Students will be using this time to get research books for their writing.
