February 9, 2024 EC West

We introduced a new science unit about the calendar, weather, and the four seasons. Students can identify the months of the year, create the calendar in the classroom, sort items and pictures based on what season they are needed or found, and discover different types of weather through books. These are topics that are regularly discussed in our class group time daily as well. The small hexagon box was added to our Sensorial shelf introducing the language for trapezoid and rhombus. Our bell table now has out the beautiful white stationary bells to play the scale and the wooden bells to match the same note. Students enjoyed the next food preparation work as they used a banana slicer to slice and eat a banana. Thank you to the families who donated towards this work! We added a liquid tile to the peace corner for exploration of how to use your body and make the liquid move. We discussed Chinese New Year and in honor of this celebration, children created dragon masks and tails. Then Early Childhood and Toddler went on a parade through the school dancing like dragons. Children also colored what Chinese New Year animal represented the year they were born and had the opportunity to explore writing in Chinese.
