Happy Montessori Education Week! We kicked off this week with an all school assembly honoring Montessori education around the world as well as our school’s 40th Anniversary. The theme was “Happy Birthday” and we all enjoyed the daily, fun-filled festivities!

The Early Childhood classrooms worked on a special art craft, decorating people craft sticks to represent themselves in our community and placing them in a beautiful space in the classroom. Each classroom studied and learned about our country; The United States of America. They explored national monuments, flag folding, writing with ink and quill like they used to sign historical documents, and what our nation is all about.  New math units were also introduced. East is now learning about money value and worth and West is learning about telling time. In Practical Life, the East classroom demonstrated nuts, bolts, screwdrivers, and ratchets while the West classroom explored how locks and keys work together.
The kindergartners also had a lesson on the “farm.” This work is a small environment that teaches about grammar focusing on nouns and extending to adjectives, verbs, and sentence structure.
We ended the week with another special school-wide birthday party to wrap up our Montessori Education week. Children enjoyed songs, special treats, balloons and PJ’s! Thank you for your participation in our celebrations this week!  We are blessed in so many ways!
