This week we added the solid cards to our geometric cabinet to match the shapes from drawer to picture. The next cube was also added to the Sensorial shelf; the cube of the trinomial. First the child sorts the cubes and prisms by color and then builds the larger cube in a color-sequential order. As an extension to our magnet science unit, students created a magnetic painting! Using paint on a paper plate with a paperclip on one side and a magnet on the other, they were able to paint using the magnetic force! Our new geography unit was about our country, the United States of America. We discussed national symbols, landmarks, and presidents. Children could also draw and color the American flag. Our new sensorial unit was about baric work as students used their sense of touch to feel and match different weights while discovering light vs. heavy. Our new math unit was also introduced about money. Students learn the names and values of coins and a dollar. They also explore different ways to make a dollar. We all enjoyed celebrating our 100th Day of School! The children were excited to share the items they brought in from home and they counted them out on our display tables. We counted to 100 as a class and did some fun number activities!
