February 12, 2021, Upper West

In Upper West this week, we focused on completing our fantasy stories. For these stories, we looked at some of the main components of a traditional fantasy story – elements of magic, a voyage or quest, and a clear hero and anti-hero. Part of the writing sequence involves having a peer conference with another student who listens to the story being read by the author while making suggestions to improve the writing. After more editing and revising, a teacher conference is given before the story is published. These final drafts will be sent home in the coming weeks.

We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day party on Wednesday! Many thanks to all the families who were involved.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the conferences!
