December 8, 2023 Lower South

On Wednesday, the Wood County Hospital Wellness Program brought a 7-foot, overstuffed, blue-haired doll to our school to kick off our science units on the Circulatory System and the Respiratory System.  Stuffee turns “inside out” to reveal all the major abdominal organs.  On the shelf, students are learning how the body works. Some of the activities are: finding your pulse and counting your heartbeats using a stethoscope for one minute, labeling different parts of the Respiratory and Circulatory Systems, and learning about our lungs.

On the history shelf, the students have been introduced to units on the Days of the Week in the Lower South and the Months of the Year in the Lower North.  Students can review the days and months.  They can practice spelling and practice capitalization for them.  They can also do activities that explain the origin of each day and month.

For the math unit, students made the transition from gaining knowledge about money to now learning about time.  Within this unit, students will learn terms such as, hour, half past, quarter to, and quarter past. In addition, students will gain an understanding of telling time on an analog clock versus a digital clock.  A skill that still remains true of high importance.

Have a great weekend,
