Welcome to the first full week of classes at MSBG! We have enjoyed getting to know your children and helping everyone become comfortable in our classrooms. Our week began with lessons on walking safely in the classroom and practicing rolling and unrolling rugs. Grace and courtesy lessons were introduced this week, including raising a hand when on the line, and speaking in a quiet voice. We also demonstrated to the students how to politely interrupt.
Our math shelves enticed students this week with work such as self-correcting 1-10 as well as cards and counters. Many friends enjoyed explored the 100 board as well! In sensorial, lessons on the knobbed and knobbless cylinders were introduced. Both classrooms also gave a demonstration on the Pink Tower and the brown prisms. This exciting sensorial work allows children to discover math concepts such as dimension and 3-D shapes. It also encourages movement within the classroom. On the art shelf, tearing paper was an available choice for students, and in movement, we introduced walking on the line as a new work.
We have been observing the life cycle of a butterfly. The children are enjoying watching the caterpillars form into butterflies. This week we released our first one into nature!
We hope you have a safe, fun, and restful holiday weekend!
