We are entering our last full month of school and we continue to introduce new units to keep our students busy. This week we introduced the Animal Stories in Zoology. Throughout the year, we have had units on the invertebrates and the five groups of vertebrates. The Animal Stories are packets that have riddles that the students can read to one another and learn more about many animals in the animal kingdom. We encourage that these packets be done with a friend for fun and learning.
On the word study shelf we introduced a unit on abbreviations. The work includes standard abbreviations for the days of the week, months of the year, and measurement to name a few. This matching work also teaches more capitalization and punctuation rules. Older students who do the work use the abbreviations in sentences.
We were glad to see so many grandparents and family members this week. We hope that by having family members visit, it will help them understand how our Montessori classroom functions. We are proud of what we do in the classroom and it is always fun to share what we do.
Have a wonderful weekend.
