What a beautiful week! It was nice to see the sunshine. The school year is coming closer to an end, but we still have some exciting work happening in the classroom.
This week we began our study of the Eastern/Southern states. Stud
The second-year students were introduced to the State Research Project. They got to randomly choose an eastern or southern state. They will first read a book about their state and then start finding out when their state was admitted into the union and when it became a state. They will also research exciting attractions, famous people, and places they would like to visit. They have been looking forward to this project and have been waiting all year to get started.
Finally, we introduced contractions to the students on the word study shelf. Contractions can enhance English language skills in lots of different ways. Learning how to shorten two words using an apostrophe can be tricky and a challenge. Our students are always up for a challenge. 🙂
We would like to thank all our grandparents and special adults for coming in and visiting this past week! Our students were excited to give them a tour of the school, a tour of the classroom, and most importantly show them the work they are doing in the classroom.
Have a great weekend!
