April 17, 2019, Upper West

We’ve had a busy week in Upper West! The students formed partners to begin a comprehensive science unit on monocots and dicots (corn and beans). Each day they’ll work on a lab, observing the growth of the corns and beans while performing tasks that involve analyzing the structural features and using scientific vocabulary.

As the 4th and 5th year students finish their Middle Ages writing workshop books, and hence the completion of the entire Middle Ages unit, a knighting process has begun. This ceremony has each student being presented with their bound middle ages book and then tapped on each shoulder with a wooden play sword while being dubbed a knight, lady, or similar honorific medieval title of their choosing.

A newly-made balance for our science unit
