We began the week with our new geography continent study – Antarctica! Students explored the animals, people, and culture of this continent using works such as bead maps, 3-part nomenclature cards, and booklets. In Math, we introduced Addition and added many works to our special math shelf, including table-top red and blue numerical rods and “ants” to create addition problems. The Sink and Float unit was introduced to our Sensorial Curriculum. This work is exciting for the students as they predict and discover how different objects react to placement in water. In practical life, we explored water transfer droppers and lavender tweezing, allowing the students to refine their fine motor skills, lengthen concentration, and prepare them for writing activities. On Tuesday, our kindergarteners enjoyed a field trip to the BGSU Planetarium where they learned about space travel history, heard moon, earth, and space facts, and enjoyed a fictional story about Max the dog taking a space adventure. Our Earth Day art perfectly rounded out the week, allowing the students to use their fingerprints to paint the world. Hope you can join us on Saturday at MSBG as we celebrate Earth Day!
